Arabic consonants are divided or classified into two parts<\/strong>, namely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Sun Letters ( \u064f\u0627\u0644\u0652\u062d\u064f\u0631\u064f\u0648\u0641\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0634\u064e\u0651\u0645\u0652\u0633\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0651\u0629<\/strong>)<\/li>
  2. Moon Letters ( \u0627\u0644\u0652\u062d\u064f\u0631\u064f\u0648\u0641\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0642\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0631\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0651\u0629<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This classification is based on whether or not the letters attracts or assimilate the definite article al<\/em> (\u0627\u0644<\/strong>), Both classes assimilate the definite article al<\/em><\/mark>, but the difference is that one loses its distinctive sound while other do not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As we know we have are 28 consonants<\/strong> in the Arabic alphabet. Exactly half<\/strong> are Sun, and half<\/strong> are Moon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u0627\u0644\u0652\u062d\u064f\u0631\u064f\u0648\u0641\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0651\u064e\u0645\u0652\u0633\u0650\u064a\u0651\u064e\u0629\u064f<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    These are called sun letters. They assimilate the definite article al<\/mark><\/em> (\u0627\u0644<\/strong>), but loses its distinctive sound.<\/strong> As a result, the sound at the beginning of the word is doubled. (Given Shaddah<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For example: \u064f\u0627\u0644\u0634\u064e\u0651\u0645\u0652\u0633<\/em><\/strong> \u060c(Ash-shamsu)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Ash-Shams<\/em>, you don\u2019t pronounce the \u0644<\/strong><\/em> (Lam). The 14 Sun-letters are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    These are called moon letters. They assimilate the definite article al<\/mark><\/em> (\u0627\u0644<\/strong>), and retains its distinctive sound.<\/strong> As a result, the sukuun on the laam [ al<\/mark><\/em> (\u0627\u0644<\/strong>),] at the beginning of the word is pronounced. (and does not attracts Shaddah<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For example: \u064f\u0627\u0644\u0652\u0642\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0631<\/strong> \u060c(Al-qomoru).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A<\/em>l-qomor, you pronounce the \u0644<\/strong><\/em> (Lam). The 14 moon-letters are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
